CHARACTER
Name: Full name and any nicknames
Age: 12 and up
Birthday: Month and day / Astrological sign
Physical Appearance: A brief but rich description of their hair, eyes, face
shape, skin tone, height, build, preferred clothing style, scars, jewelry,
markings.
Background: This doesn't need to be a novel but describe the key points that
have made up their existence to this point in their life, pre-magic revelation.
Where were they born? Who are their family and friends? What is their current
situation? Has the war effected them?
Personality: Paint me a verbal picture of what makes them who they are. Their
likes, dislikes, hobbies, strengths, weaknesses, goals, fears. And again, a
novel isn't necessary, but show me you really know who you're writing for.
NIAM
Magic: What is their element?
Symbol: What small silver symbol etches itself on the palm of their left hand
when their magic fully reveals itself? Don't make it too ornate or fancy please.
Battle Uniform: Since they aren't exactly warriors of the military variety they
won't be wearing any heavy armor. They will be wearing leather pieces to
protect their vital areas (as seen in this example). Besides that they'll
be wearing sturdy breeches, undershirts, boots, and cloaks so please describe
them.
Weapon: Something simple like a dagger or a short sword as they'll need their
hands free most of the time to conduct their magic. A bow or crossbow may be a
bit complicated for them, but if they're adept at it then I think it'd be wise
to have at least one ranged attacker in the group.
Abilities: Please describe their magical abilities. How do they conjure them,
what do they look like, how wide a range do they have, can it be blocked or
dampened by a specific element or situation? They get two offensive, two
defensive, and one all-around magical ability.
Supply and Demand: Please describe the weaknesses and limitations of their
magic. How it can be blocked? How much energy does it take to use it?
Horse: Provided by Prinek, give me a little information about the look and
temperament of their trusty steed.
INTRODUCTION
To give us an idea of your writing skills, please write at least a half page of
a day in the life of your character. Don’t forget to include action, dialogue,
and if it’s clever and funny you’ll get extra points! Not that there’s a
point system, I’m just trying to entice you with verbal cookies.
Portrait: If you could link a photographic example of your character of someone that is the closest match you can find to what they look like. Not mandatory, but greatly appreciated and smiled upon. Models.com is great.
When you’re finished do a once-over and a spell check and then head to the board for what to do next.
