Physical Appearance: A brief but rich description of their hair, eyes, face
shape, skin tone, height, build, preferred clothing style, scars, jewelry,
markings. Make sure you've read the Anatomy of an Iafross article in the
Guide section because it will explain what physical traits are
necessary.
Background: This doesn't need to be a novel but describe the key points that
have made up their existence to this point in their life including when and how
they were chosen to be an Iafross. Again, to know who we're looking for
you'll need to have read the above-mentioned article. Where were they born?
Who are their family and friends? What is their current situation now that
they serve Dentaurn?
Personality: Paint me a verbal picture of what makes them who they are.
Their
likes, dislikes, hobbies, strengths, weaknesses, goals, fears. Remember
that they'll mesh with their animal form for a reason, so if you're writing up a
character that controls Malice, have some hints in their personality that would
draw it to them and vice versa. Again, a
novel isn't necessary but show that you really know who you're writing for.
IAFROSS
Animal: What animal form do they shift into?
Instincts: Once in animal form, what is their primary drive? To act
as a scout, tracker, weapon, or something else? This will predominately be
weapon.
Battle Uniform: It won't be uncommon for them to wear their everyday
clothes as their battle uniform for two reasons - to shift more easily into
their Iafross form and to
blend into the crowd as they track targets and attack
villages. So breeches, undershirts, boots, and cloaks would be
the norm. Please describe
them.
Weapon: Since most of them should be considered weapons in animal form
there won't be much need for physical weapons. Those who need the added protection
(like the scouts or trackers) should choose something on the smaller side like a
sword, dagger or even throwing knives.
White Dust: Besides being powerful beasts or other effective animals, they
also have their White Dust ability provided by Andrell. The White Dust
allows them to heighten one of their physical attributes, such as strength or
speed or even sight or hearing. Please describe it and yes, they can use
it both in human and Iafross form. .
Supply and Demand: Please describe the weaknesses and limitations of being
an Iafross. How much control do they have over themselves when they shift? Does
the smell of blood or the sight of a certain type of human effect them and their drive?
As for their heightened Dust abilities, they have two weaknesses. The
first is dehydration and the second is moonlight. While the sun seems to
energize them due to the favor of Andrell, the moon almost drains and shuns them
since it cuts them off from being able to shift at all. Keep that in mind.
Horse: Provided by Dentaurn, give me a little information about the look and
temperament of their trusty war steed.
INTRODUCTION
To give us an idea of your writing skills, please write at least a half page of
a day in the life of your character. Don’t forget to include action, dialogue,
and if it’s clever and funny you’ll get extra points! Not that there’s a
point system, I’m just trying to entice you with verbal cookies.
