main or supporting
choosing
Main characters: the main story is driven by their progress and actions. They will get the most "main" screen time and have priority over the supporting characters. That's why there are fewer main characters available for application. Also, as we're first starting out, everyone will only be able to play one main character of any main faction. If it turns out that applications are slow-starting and we really need someone to fill a spot to get the story moving, then we'll definitely open up the main characters to current writers even if they already have their "max" main character limit. That's how important our wee little mains are.
Supporting characters: they help to flesh out and add surprises, assistance, and resistance to our main characters. They'll definitely get their fair share of screen time in the main stories, but they'll also have more time to frolic on the side story screen. The number of supporting characters you have can really be anywhere from one to ten, there's no limit as of right now because who knows what supporting characters will die or what events will happen in the main story that calls for a large group of supporting Jack and Jill's. So while they may not get top billing, they are no less important than the main cast.
